Earth Day: Douglas Park is the site for the annual green gathering on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event features the Upcycle Challenge, bingo, a scavenger hunt, interactive sustainability workshops, vnedors, community organization displays, and more. Free admission.

James Campbell concert: Langley Community Music School hosts the Juno-award winning clarinetist who will perform with pianist/composer Marcel Bergmann and the Rose Gellert String Quartet at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at the school, 4899 207th St. Tickets: $33 for adults, $30 for seniors, $18 for students, and $10 for LCMS students. Learn to lawn bowl: Langley Lawn Bowling Club, 20471 54th Ave., hosts lessons for new bowlers on April 20 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., April 24 between 6:30 and 8 p.m., and April 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. Three lessons for $35. Big Deal Gala: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley host fourth annual gala on Saturday, April 20, at the Coast Hotel and Convention Centre. Community cleanup: Murrayville Plumbing is hosting a neighbourhood cleanup on Sunday, April 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. Meet at the McDonald’s at 216th Street and Fraser Highway for coffee (bring a mug) then help clean the neighbourhood. Gloves and routes provided.

Argyle screening for visually impaired: Canadian Council for the Blind BC-Yukon Division is hosting a screening of the thriller movie at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at Cineplex Langley. Village Cafe: Langley City hosts monthly discussion gatherings from 1 to 4 p.m. The Wednesday, free April 24 event at Timms Community Centre, 20399 Douglas Cres., is about community resources and referrals. Learn about services available in the community.

Dollar Sale: Twice yearly PAC fundraiser at Shortreed Elementary, 27330 28th Ave., runs from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26. All items $1 until 4 p.m., then items are four for $1. Amadeus: Theatre in the Country performs the play Wednesdays to Saturdays, April 10 to 27 at 5708 Glover Rd. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. with the show at 7:30 p.m. Matinees (no meal) are at 1:30 Saturdays. Dragon boat youth program: Open to kids in Grades 8 to 12. No experience required. Fort Langley Canoe Club program runs Tuesdays and Fridays until June 22. Sessions are 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. at Bedford Channel. $100 (GST included) fee includes paddles, safety equipment, coaching plus three regattas (May 4, June 1 and June 22 at False Creek. Men’s Shed: Langley has a chapter of the international group that allows men to get together and socialize, work on projects, or help the community by using their skills.
