Aldergrove’s Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience Waterpark resumes seven-days-a-week operation

Last year, around 101,000 registered to swim at the popular summer attraction

Just ahead of Canada Day, Aldergrove’s Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience Waterpark returned to a seven-days-a-week schedule on Thursday, June 29, offering pre-registered two-and-a-half hour sessions.

The destination drew around 101,000 to the site at Fraser Highway and 270th Street next to the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre last year “and we expect the water park to again be popular for the 2023 summer season – rain or shine,” said Rob Stare, the Township’s acting recreation director.

While the water park is operating, drop-ins at the year-round 25-metre lane pool, lifestyle pool and hot tub under the community centre’s wood canopy roof will only be available in the mornings. After 10 a.m. they will be operating as part of the park attractions, which also includes a wave pool, a river ride, spray park, and water slides.

Stare said most sessions at the water park were fully booked during the “shoulder season” that started May 19, as a lead-in to the summer season, when the park was just open Friday to Sunday.

There are no drop-ins.

Township of Langley residents can book water park sessions 10 days in advance, while non-Township residents can only register seven days ahead.

“We had great success and received positive feedback on the pre-registration system, and many guests appreciated knowing their spot was secure, so we are continuing with the model for the 2023 water park season,” Stare explained.

“Using this system also offers Township residents early access registration prior to non-Township residents.”

To register, visit the tol.ca parks recreation page and click on “facilities and arenas” and look for the Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience.

Everyone entering the water park must be registered, including those not intending to swim and children three and younger.

If a water park session is full, it is sold out and additional spots are not available.

People with reservations should arrive no earlier than 45 minutes ahead of their scheduled water park session.

Lounge chairs, and picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis and guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs.

Lifejackets and personal flotation devices are available for use at no cost.

“We also encourage all guests to bring their own,” Stare said. “However, they are not allowed to be worn on any of the slides.”

Admission ranges from $5 for kids, to $6.40 for teens and $10.15 for adults. Infants and toddlers three and younger get in free. Seniors 60 to 79 pay $7.70 and seniors 80 and older pay $1.

The facility offers designated group areas that can be reserved for birthday parties, family outings, or any occasion.

Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience Waterpark will be offering special events in July and August on Thursdays nights from 7 to 9 p.m. including movie nights, youth nights, when teens can use the Township’s Summer Fun Youth Pass, and “sip ‘n dips” where adults can enjoy local craft beer and wine served on-site.

Overflow parking is located at the nearby Aldergrove Community Secondary School.

Stare said the Township is “actively hiring for all recreation positions.”

Jobs are posted online on the Township website under “external” opportunities.
