Interest in new Aldergrove seniors complex draws traffic to presentation centre

Bellevue expects to open this spring

As construction of the new Bellevue Park Senior Living residence on 272nd Street nears completion in Aldergrove, a presentation centre has opened just down the street.

Work on the four-storey structure with accommodation for more than 200 residents, a project of the Burnaby-based Willingdon Care Centre Ltd., is expected to wrap up this spring, said Willingdon manager Lance Bennewith.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be in the location that we’re in, to be that close to our building,” Bennewith said of the presentation centre in the former Gulf & Fraser credit union building.

It officially opened Monday, Jan. 15, after unofficially opening its doors the previous week.

“We did a soft opening last week for three days,” Bennewith told the Langley Advance Times on Tuesday.

“We had quite a bit of traffic that we didn’t expect.”

Built with fireproof pre-made metal panels on a reinforced concrete foundation, Bellevue Park Senior Living will include 75 assisted and supportive living suites, including 10 two-bedroom units, and will also have eight “neighbourhoods” of 15 residents each for people in long-term care, along with underground parking for staff and visitors.

It’s going up on the site of the old Aldergrove community ice arena and two adjoining residential properties that were purchased by Willingdon Care Centre Ltd. in April of 2018, the same year the new community arena opened at the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre.
