Vancouver Giants have signed 2004-born forward Tyson Zimmer from the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Monday’s (Jan. 8) trade deal announcement included a transfer to Lethbridge for 2004-born Giants forward Colton Langkow, as well as a second-round Giants draft pick in 2024, a third-round draft pick in 2025 and unsigned 2008-born prospect Kai Anderson.

Zimmer, 19, 6’1” and 191 lbs., has collected 96 career points (43G-53A) in 183 Western Hockey League games, split between Brandon and Lethbridge.

His 108 shots on goal this season rank second on his club, while he is tied for the team lead in game-winning-goals with three. During the 2022-23 season, the right-shot forward registered a career-high 48 points, which was tied for third amongst all Hurricanes skaters.

“We’re excited to add a proven player like Tyson to our lineup, who we feel can help us both this year and next,” Giants General Manager Barclay Parneta said.

Vancouver Giants are currently ranked eighth in the 11-team WHL western conference, 18th of 22 overall.

Langkow, 19, was originally drafted by the Giants in the fifth-round (99th overall) in the 2019 WHL Draft.

The 5’11, 176-lb. forward is the son of former NHL forward Daymond Langkow, a Scottsdale, AZ, product who has appeared in 128 regular season games with Vancouver over parts of four seasons collecting 21 points (8g-13a) along with 215 penalty minutes.

“Colton will add a dimension I felt we needed for our forward group as he brings grit and the ability to be physical,” said Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt. “We think he will be a good addition to our forward group.”

Anderson, 15, was drafted by the Giants in sixth-round (117th overall) in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. The North Vancouver, BC, product has totaled 15 points (9g-6a) along with two penalty minutes in 14 games with the Burnaby Winter Club U17 Prep team.
