TRU rebrands tournament to honour B.C. volleyballer killed in crash

Thomspon River University has announced the first annual Owyn McInnis Memorial Tournament will be held in April.

The institute is rebranding its annual Battle of the Borders tournament to honour former Wolfpack teammate Owyn McInnis who died in a car crash just outside the university on Nov. 29, 2023.

The U17/18 boys and girls are scheduled April 13-14 and U15/16 is set to play April 27-28 at the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops.

All proceeds from the Owyn McInnis Memorial Tournament will support future tournaments and the Owyn McInnis Memorial Men’s Volleyball Athletic Award.

Registration for the tournament is open. Entry is $500.
